the world doesn't care about you, and that's fine.
i think this idea really set in when i read a bandman's blog post explaining it. somehow. i'm not happy with that source ...in my defense i was 16
the funny thing is that this bandman is a total pervert. your classic weirdo lolicon, among other things. he refused to play persona 4 but loved persona 4 arena, always posted about how much money he spent on love live. he thought he could get away with it all coz hes a bassist (true)
but he said in a blog post, coupled with crude artwork drawn on his iphone, that if you're dressed weird on the train and someone judges you, there's a 99.9999% change they won't see you again. i don't know how but in that moment things clicked for me.
i guess i was 16 and high off OTC medication. it worked, so who cares? i'm a freer person these days
of course factors will vary. time, location, population density. but you really can do things. and the good thing about the situation is that, even if you really are doing something embarrassing and decide that later, those people can't call you out on it either
i walk outside in white makeup and face my little town. old lady cashiers ask me what the occasion is, randos give me words of approval as they walk by. we all have a good time socialising
i think that's been lost in our modern era, but a plus is that people are often too glued to their phones to harass you
