03. park (1)

next on the list, after a long trek up a boring main road, was a long park i planned only to pass through. apparently there are koalas somewhere here, but i didn't bother to look for them. this old chair was near the tree
there was a creek, which at first i only wanted to get a look at because i saw the lily-pads (it's been forever since i saw them lotus flowers close) but then because a white bird was hopping around and checking the water. despite the brownish water full of algae, its plumage was pristine.
it was shaped like a goose or swan. i wonder what it actually was? i don't have merlin installed. i should. i thought it was small, but it was actually just further away than i thought, and it was quite large.
i wanted to get photos of it but my phone camera has no digital zoom. this happens to be a recurring feature of this specific trip... sigh

it was really a relaxing place. i went back on the thursday just to get pictures of the lotuc flowers, which were bright pink and purple but appeared white on my phone camera, which is obviously no good.
the long ones in this photo are purple in real life. but you can't see that, can you?
the white bird had a friend, a moorhen. a beautiful bird, black dark with a proud, deep blue chest and a bright reddish nose. every time it got startled, by my movements or by something else, it made a little honking sound and began to run a small distance, revealing its huge freakish feet from underneath the surface. it made this deep slapping-sloshing sound against the water, every time it stepped.

i sat here and wrote, for a bit. mostly just taking notes on the water and the birds though. i like to birdwatch.
it was really noisy because a bunch of birds were cawing in the trees. it helped me get my mind off of meaningless things, like the Internet, and onto meaningful things, like how lovely the world is

i had no plans to, but now i want to.
