05. wires

i like wires. i love power lines and telephone poles. even radio towers are so very lovely to me. you might be thinking: "woah, internet japan aesthetic"! or whatever, because that's what a lot of people post power lines. it's not that kind of thing for me, or at least i don't think so. if that were the case, i don't think i would have been so taken by the telephone pole on my street corner as a child, with its brutish form, jagged limbs and rough wood.

but who knows? maybe my exposure at the young age of five to both anime, thanks to my mother—i learnt how to read very well purely because of subbed sailor moon—and the internet, thanks to my father, turned me mentally strange?

i remember being little and fascinated whenever i saw shoes hanging from power lines. i'd always point it out. i never learned what it meant, and i keep hearing conflicting information, so maybe i never will

i still have an infatuation with that sort of structure: technological and foreign, messy lines and frank materials and awkward angles. so telephone poles, antennae, cell towers, and so on. and it's why i love to photograph them so much.

the low quality of my phone camera is showing itself! but a line of pigeons was above me at this point, too. very cute. now that i have optical zoom i can get better photos of birds on wires and that sort of thing, although i think i prefer corvids and parrots.

i would still love a pigeon as a pet. i think we'd understand each other
