06. park (2)

the next park, which was small and so i was only supposed to pass through it on my way to the jetty down at the beach, was absolutely gorgeous. the creek was just beautiful, with so many birds. here is a lone duck, paddling in the water. it's very small in the image.

i sat right on the bank of this creek, for yet another rest, but so many birds came and went that i was mesmerised. i sat, with my journal, taking notes and writing my thoughts.

birds are wonderful. truly one of my favourite types of animals. my first word, according to my mother, was bird—my father claims it was dad. i suppose that debate will be settled once i meet god and i can ask him directly. i do believe the bird thing, because some of my earliest memories are in the backyard of the country town i lived in until i was three, my family throwing a whole loaf of bread and watching all sorts of lovely native birds fly in to eat it. i wonder if it was heathly for them

but i wish there were more creatures to photograph. bugs, rodents, reptiles, where are you all? i suppose they are all quiet types, though! contrast this to birds, who are adaptable, noisy & proud, and rather importantly know how to fly. creatures like that are hard to miss.

a moorhen hanging close to me.

the water was green and always rippling. the reflection of the plants on the other bank back onto it was downright mesmerising. i wish it was easy to portray with words but i am by no means a skilled writer. i envy those who can capture the beauty in the world with only a few words.

the island in the middle of the creek had a massive tree in it, and white ibises congregated there; black bald things with hunched necks and long beaks, distrustful eyes, beautiful white coats and strong legs. interesting characters, though most people think of them as similar to raccoons. that is, nuisances that love garbage.

again, low quality photos. gotta go back with my camera now that it's set up and functioning. but aren't they lovely? at least to me

i spent so long here, just watching. it's beautiful. i wonder if the birds thought i was straight, considering i was dressed so distinctly

i got shat on, like, three trillion times. oh well. it's good luck.

i really liked the underside of this bridge, too
